Getting Crafty

We are all pretty crafty in our little household.  Here I will post some of our crafty adventures as well as products we've made that YOU CAN BUY if you wish.  Just send me a shout out. 

9/7/17:   Hey there! Its still early in September which means we are winding down from Summer and normally its as hot if not hotter than August, but this year things are a little different.  The nights are coming faster than normal and are colder than they normally would be.  The morning air is crisp and cool and there are already leaves changing colors and dancing in the wind.  These normally don't happen around Texas until November/ December so that only means one thing (GOT moment here) WINTER IS COMING!

Yep I went there and if you live in Texas you know what I mean if you don't than allow me to explain real quick like.  Winter if it comes to Texas is normally only a few days of chilly 30 degree weather. You barely even need a coat if even a hoodie some days. So when the leaves start to sing their last song of the year in early September it makes you believe or at least want to believe that Texas may actually get SEASONS this year. 

OK with all that being said I have been doing some getting ready for winter knitting wise, and I had to share these super cute toddler slippers that I made for the wee feller.  I will be making larger sizes. as soon as H saw them he was all about needing a pair too.

I made these using the Boye Bloom Flower Loom which is a small 12 peg loom that can be used to make lots of cute things.  For larger sizes you would want to use a larger loom but when I post about those I'll identify the loom I used along with any alterations to the pattern.  Now the loom set I posted in the link comes with a knitting hook if your new to loom knitting you will need one of those but I prefer to use KB Knitting Hook since its bigger and easier to hold on too.

Ok so Here is what you will need to make these cute squishy comfy slippers:
Super bulky yarn( I used Bernat Blanket Mallard Woods)
Flower Loom
Knitting Hook
scissors

Heres what ya do:

Cast on all pegs and ewrap 1 row and knit off.  Leave a long tail in your cast on, you will use it later.

Ewrap 12 rows in a flat panel with a slip stitch at the first peg( ewrap all pegs but do not close the stitches when you get to the last peg.  Turn around by not wrapping the last peg knitted.)

Ewrap row 13 in the round(ewrap all pegs closing the circle).

Continue to knit in the round rows 14-17.

Row 18 begin drawstring bind off. ( I moved the 4th pegs yarn to the 3rd peg, knitted all working  pegs and then moved the 2nd pegs yarn to the 1st working peg and knitted off. Ran my working yarn around the loom once and pulled it through all working pegs).  Pull the yarn off the last peg and pull to start closing the toe.  Flip inside out, push the working yarn inside the toe, finish pulling the toe closed, and tie off.

At the heal of the slipper take the tail left over from your cast on with your slipper still inside out whip stitch the heel closed.  If you want to have a more rounded heel fold the bottom of the heel up and stitch in place.  Turn right side out and admire your work. 

These little slippers maybe take 10 minutes total per pair.  Its a fun quick and easy gift you can make.
